Our story and background.

With extensive and multi-dimensional experience in travel, tourism and hospitality, Bonnie Buckhiester realized that incremental revenue growth was the key to overcoming high-fixed costs, low-variable costs, and the volatile demand cycles of the hotel business.

Although revenue management had been utilized effectively for years in other areas of the travel sector, the hotel industry as a whole had not yet fully embraced the discipline. With her desire to help hoteliers understand the benefits of focusing on revenue generation rather than cost containment as an effective way to grow their business, Buckhiester opened her company in 1995.

Today, Buckhiester Management is considered by industry experts as the company that sets the global standard in revenue management consulting and developmental education. Buckhiester consistently delivers 4 to 10+% top line revenue increases with potential to exponentially impact profit when recommendations and programs are followed. How it all started.

Buckhiester Management set out on a mission to place revenue management within a context that hotel managers could easily adapt into their everyday management practices. Making yield management easier to understand and evolving a practical, systematic methodology created a number of “believers” out of previously skeptical senior management. As hotel professionals embraced the practice, they frequently asked if Buckhiester Management had any tools to make the process more efficient. It was out of this need that REVolution® was born.

  • Extensive experience in both the Rooms and Food & Beverage sides of the business – trained as a Chef and leads the Food & Beverage revenue management practice at Buckhiester Management
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. with honors) in Psychology from the University of Victoria, graduate diploma in Applied Linguistics and a professional culinary certification from DuBrulle French Culinary Institute

Loren Gray is an internationally recognized authority in the field of hospitality marketing and has appeared as an expert yearly at numerous national industry conferences spanning the hospitality and digital marketing industries. Gray has spoken on the topic at industry events across the US, in Canada, the Caribbean, China, Australia, and Europe. He has contributed to publications such as the New York Times, USA Today, Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal, and has had articles published in numerous trade journals. In addition to participating and chairing on numerous industry boards and organizations, Gray is a past chair of the Digital Marketing council of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI). HSMAI recognized Gray as one of The ‘Top 25 Extraordinary Minds in Sales and Marketing’, and has served on the Board of America’s for HSMAI’s International Organization.

  • Strengths in Property Management Systems Technology (PMS), Customer Relations Management Systems (CRM) and Central Reservations Systems Technology (CRS).
  • Mid and Executive team level experience with Fairmont, Westin, Kor Hotels, including 3 new hotel openings at award winning hotels.
  • Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games corporate hospitality housing contractor to manage and yield over 2,700 units of private accommodation.
  • Revenue structure implementation, forecasting, reporting needs development.
  • Team learning facilitator, coaching, training and incentivizing.
  • Certified in Revenue Management by the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI).

Daniel is the most recent addition to the Buckhiester Management team. Originally from Bogota, Columbia, he is currently completing his MBA in Information Technology Leadership. Daniel has held numerous positions in the field of technology as well as being a research analyst for the Bogota Economic Development Initiative. Daniel currently leads our organization in the area of specialized tool development as well as customized business intelligence dashboards for our clients. He has collaborated with many teams in developing and modifying analytics in Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and Finance.
